On June 26th, 2026, Ms. Nguyen Hien Trang, CEO of Big Leap Research, represented the Company at the workshop titled “New Product Development, Strategic Technologies, and Strategic Technology Products in Healthcare: Research & Development, Standards Development, and Clinical Trials”, held in Phu Tho Province and organized by the Department of Science, Technology and Training under the Ministry of Health of Vietnam. The workshop was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc, Deputy Minister of Health.
The workshop brought together government authorities, hospitals, universities, research institutes, and enterprises operating in the healthcare and life sciences sectors to discuss strategic directions for the development of innovative healthcare technologies and products that support the advancement of healthcare services in Vietnam.
During the workshop, experts and policymakers discussed a range of important topics, including healthcare product research and development, technical standards development, enhancement of the regulatory framework, strengthening clinical trial capabilities, and promoting technology transfer in the healthcare sector. These initiatives align with Vietnam’s national strategy for science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation, while contributing to greater self-reliance in the research and development of advanced healthcare technologies and products.
In his keynote remarks, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Tri Thuc emphasized the critical role of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as key drivers for the future development of Vietnam’s healthcare sector. He highlighted that establishing a robust ecosystem encompassing research and development, standardization, and clinical trials is essential for fostering strategic healthcare technologies and products developed in Vietnam, ultimately meeting the growing healthcare needs of the population.
One of the key themes highlighted throughout the workshop was the pivotal role of clinical trials in the development and commercialization of healthcare products. Clinical evidence is increasingly recognized as the foundation for demonstrating the safety, effectiveness, and real-world value of innovative products before their widespread adoption. This applies not only to pharmaceuticals but also to medical devices, digital health solutions, artificial intelligence applications in healthcare, and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.
The workshop also underscored the growing importance of collaboration among regulatory authorities, healthcare institutions, research organizations, and industry stakeholders in building a comprehensive healthcare innovation ecosystem. Hospitals and healthcare facilities are expected to play an increasingly significant role in scientific research, technology assessment, and the conduct of clinical trials, helping to bridge the gap between innovation and practical healthcare implementation.
